Businesses, New Beginnings lend a helping hand to bereaved family
Boksburg Spar, Boxer, New Beginnings Care Centre and Tasty Treats Bakery recently donated food parcels, fresh vegetables and toiletries to the bereaved Hoza family who live in the Blue Sky informal settlement.
This comes after Ward 32 councillor Marius de Vos learned how the Hoza family were desperate to bury a loved one, Lulama Hoza, but had no money.
“I heard about the Hoza family from a community leader, Bongani Khambule, who was very touched by the situation.
“I visited the family and could see they lived in extreme poverty. I then asked for help from local shops and New Beginnings, all of whom didn’t hesitate to lend a helping hand.
“As a ward councillor and community leader, I wish to extend a word of thanks and appreciation to these businesses for their prompt responses to my call for help and to the ward committee members who assisted with the funeral arrangements,” he said.
Representatives from the businesses that donated, all echoed one message – reaching out to the community is their way of showing appreciation to the public for their support.
The funeral was financed by the Ekurhuleni metro and the Red Ants provided a bus to transport mourners to the cemetery.
