Post-mortem confirms Reiger Park child was electrocuted

The Reiger Park police have confirmed, as per a post-mortem report, that seven-year-old Yamila Ismail's death was the result of electrocution.

SAPS spokesperson Sgt Mashudu Phathela said Yamila was playing with her friends on a street in Reiger Park before she entered a yard a few metres away from her home, to drink water.

“It appears the child was electrocuted as she opened the tap,” said Phathela.

The plastic tap that robbed the Ismail family of their seven-year-old daughter, Yamila.

Police immediately registered an inquest docket and the Ekurhuleni metro’s technical team is conducting an inspection of the property to establish how the tap had become electrified.

The little girl was laid to rest at the Boksburg Cemetery on December 9.
