Rotary Youth Exchange student Palesa jets off to Germany

Rotary Youth Exchange student Palesa Ramafola will be jetting off to Germany for six weeks to visit her host family in Bavaria.

The 17-year-old bade farewell to her sponsoring Rotary Club of Boksburg on November 29.

Having been trained by Rotary D9400 on how to conduct herself in a foreign country, Palesa was smartly fitted out in her green Rotary Youth Exchange blazer for the trip.

The youth exchange student boarded her flight on December 4 with a gift for her host family – a Lions Christmas cake

Rotary Club of Boksburg president Noel Wauchope and youth exchange officer Dave Beattie said: “We wish Palesa well and know she will make us proud. We hope she has a fantastic time.”

The Boksburg Rotary Club invites high school students to take advantage of this opportunity, which involves sharing one’s own culture and embracing a new one while fostering global understanding and learning a great deal about oneself and one’s home country in the process.

Anyone interested in joining the Rotary Youth Exchange programme can call Dave Beattie at 072 317 2188.
