Bogus police hijack vehicle in Sunward Park, rob owner

Bogus cops believed to be members of the blue-light gang hijacked a Secunda man’s Volkswagen Amarok in broad daylight while he was driving in Sunward Park on December 1.

According to the Boksburg SAPS, Sgt Cebisa Maseko, the bogus armed “police officers”, driving in a white Golf fitted with a flashing blue light, signalled that the victim should stop at the Rondebult off-ramp.

“When he did, one man approached the vehicle and tried to take the key from the ignition. While the victim was still preventing the man from taking the key, another man came and they both shoved him into the back seat of his vehicle,” said Maseko.

“They pushed his head down onto the floor, and by that time a third man had climbed into the driver’s seat and started driving off.

“Later on, the car was stopped and the victim was transferred to another car and driven to an unknown location where he was then robbed of his bank cards, cellphone and money.”

The crooks then left the victim stranded at the side of a road and drove away. He went to the Boksburg police where he explained his situation and opened a case of hijacking.

The vehicle is still missing.
