Charitable deed re-unites friends

Two old friends involved with Rotary were recently reunited through a wheelchair donation.

It all started when Engela Engelbrecht recently requested Rotary Club Boksburg’s Badplaas Project chairperson, past president Dana Oosthuizen, for a donation of a wheelchair for a beneficiary who lives in the complex where she stays.

Engelbrecht, known for helping others and for her caring heart, managed the Rotary Resort at Badplaas. The Badplaas Holiday for senior citizens has, over the years, been one of Rotary’s District 9400 favourite projects.

Oosthuizen then contacted Elsa Venter, who is a proud member of the Rotary Club of Boksburg Lake and public relations officer for the club. She was a member of RC Vanderbijlpark and was also the Badplaas Project chairperson for eight years.

Engelbrecht and Venter worked together at the resort and their close co-operation turned them into close friends, but they lost contact when Engelbrecht retired from Badplaas and moved to Benoni, and when Elsa relocated to Boksburg.

Now, through the simple request for a wheelchair, these two friends have been reunited.
