Crime awareness campaign to be held at Sunward Park Lifestyle

The Boksburg police invite members of the public to a crime awareness campaign at the Sunward Park Lifestyle Shopping Centre between 10am and 2pm on December 1.

According to the Boksburg SAPS spokesperson, Sgt Cebisa Maseko, the event is aimed at making shoppers aware of crimes such as theft of and theft out of motor vehicles, follow-home robberies (especially from banks) and scamsters and fraudsters targeting unsuspecting shoppers.

“Demonstrations, including an armed robbery demonstration in a cordoned-off area, will be held. We would like the public to be aware that during this demonstration there will be unusual noises and perhaps the sound of gunshots – they should not be alarmed,” said Maseko.

The campaign will coincide with the Boksburg SAPS’ launch of its16 Days of Activism campaign. Members of the SAPS, NGOs and other organisations are expected to give talks on violence against women and children during the event at the centre.

16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children is an international campaign aimed at raising awareness of the shocking rate of violence against women and children. It takes place from November 25 to December 10 each year.
