Boksburg North SAPS make arrests for possession of counterfeit money, dangerous weapons

The Boksburg North SAPS made the following arrests this past week.

Boksburg North detectives arrested two suspects for theft of motor vehicle.

The complainant parked his vehicle, a white Hyundai H100, at a company in Top Road in Anderbolt on November 17 at around 10am.

According to Capt Juanita Coetzer of the Boksburg North SAPS, the Bakkie was missing when he came out. He immediately phoned the tracking company.

Later that day the bakkie was found in Wattville, Benoni and the suspects were arrested.

They appeared in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court.

Boksburg North Crime Prevention Unit arrested three men for possession of counterfeit money.

The unit received a tip-off about people with counterfeit money.

They followed up the information and came across three males walking along Skew Road in Anderbolt on November 17 at about 1pm.

They stopped and searched them, and found them to be in possession of a total of six R100 notes that were false.

They were arrested and detained at Boksburg North Police station.

During October 2015 there was a business robbery at Westwood Shopping Centre.

Personnel were held up with a firearm and the suspects took cell phones and an undisclosed amount of cash.

During investigation and leads from the video footage, the Boksburg North Detectives managed to arrest a suspect on November 20.

Boksburg North Det Const Baloyi was driving along Sixth Street in Boksburg North on November 20 at around 12.30pm, when he saw a suspicious male walking down the street.

He stopped him and found a toy gun in his possession.

The 29-year-old male was arrested and detained.

Const Mpofu of the Boksburg North Crime Prevention Unit was patrolling along Rietfontein Road when he saw a security officer walking with a firearm on November 21 at 3pm.

He stopped and asked for the licence which the suspect then produced.

Const Mpofu checked to verify the serial numbers and then found that the serial numbers were different.

He arrested the suspect and confiscated the firearm.
