New life for old child car seats

As part of its Car Seats for Kids campaign, Imperial Road Safety recently spent a day at the East Rand Mall collecting unwanted or old children's car seats from members of the public.

This year, the brand partnered with the 947’s Breakfast Club to bring this impactful campaign to market once again, following previous successes across Gauteng.

Imperial Road Safety’s sixth child road safety campaign launched in line with National Transport Month in October.

The aim was to continue raising awareness around child passengers – research indicates that less than seven per cent of children travelling in cars are buckled in.

The donated car seats are restored and safety checked by Wheel Well before being distributed to those families who can’t afford a new one.

“Since we first launched the Car Seats for Kids campaign in 2012, the support has been overwhelmingly positive,” said Berenice Francis, group commercial executive at Imperial.

The team has collected over 8 000 car seats since the inception of the campaign.
Imperial has again partnered with their group companies, Hyundai, Renault, KIA and Mitsubishi, to give consumers easy access to drop-off points.

The campaign was taken to various shopping centres with the East Rand Mall being a collection point on October 13.
