Local Miss Commonwealth finalist born to help children

Boksburg resident Jenna-Lee van Niekerk (22) is one of the 12 Miss Commonwealth South African finalists for 2017/18.

She is a student, currently studying teaching and majoring in psychology through Unisa.

Jenna-Lee is also a student teacher and trainer of the Junior Drummie team at St Dominic’s Catholic School for Girls.

She promotes the sport in partnership with the GMCA (Gauteng Majorette and Cheerleading Association) development board.

Jenna-Lee entered Miss Commonwealth because it provides the opportunity for her to reach out to more young people.

“I have chosen my path to help children every day and I enjoy it so much; I love what I do and just want to do more,” she said.

The grand finale takes place on December 8 (venue to be confirmed). Jenna-Lee is seen with Damean Tibbets (GMCA development board chairperson).
