Bokkie Park Craft Market celebrates 17th birthday

The Bokkie Park Craft Market celebrated its 17th birthday with a Christmas market themed “Christmas in October” at Bokkie Park, Southvale Road, Parkdene on October 14.

The event organiser, Janine Richardson, described the event, which drew scores of people, including children from Boksburg and surrounding areas, as a day full of fun and excitement for the children and parents who attended.

Apart from the market stalls by a group of entrepreneurs selling a variety of merchandise, including Christmas gifts, the market day featured a Christmas treasure hunt for over 120 children.

Richard Strickler was also among the children who attended the event. With him is his parents, Luke and Chantal Strickler. “The little fellow has never missed one of our treasure hunts or Easter egg hunts and we’ve been having them quite a few years,” said Janine Richardson.

The children were also excited to see Santa Claus arrive at the market.

“The market was abuzz with the “hunters” who each received free lucky dips at the end of it. A great day of shopping for gifts, good food and live music all contributed to a lovely market,” said Richardson.

Organisers also put up Christmas decorations at the event. -@FanieFLK
