New water pumps project underway in Impala Park

The replacement of the old water pumps which supply Impala Park and Witkoppie Ridge is underway.

According to the Ekurhuleni metro spokesperson Themba Gadebe the contractor on site has started with the installation work.

The first pump was expected to be operational by October 11.

Impala Park resident Jaco du Toit recently told the Advertiser that these areas have been suffering low water pressure for the past few months.

“At times we even had no water at all,” he said.

Ward Clr Simon Lapping said the previous water pumps (in the picture) were very old.

Ward Clr Simon Lapping said that the old water pumps were about 20 years old and started breaking.

The Advertiser met with him at the Impala Park reservoir in Slangkop Road, on October 12.

At the time, the replacement work was almost done.

“The replacement of the old water pumps will bring much relief to the residents of the affected areas,” said Lapping.
