Atlasville survived Monday’s storm

According to alderman André du Plessis, Ward 23 Clr and shadow MMC for environmental development in the DA Ekurhuleni caucus, Atlasville survived Monday's brutal storm well.

The area has in previous years been plagued by flooding and an extensive project to reconstruct the Atlasville vlei to prevent this in future appears to be reaping rewards.

“I visited the site and I am happy to confirm that, overall, the work that was done to the vlei has been a great success, especially since no homes which were previously flooded were affected by the storm on Monday,” du Plessis said.

The entire area was draining well and there was no damage to any of the completed construction work or flooding to any other areas.

“I am aware that a resident of Reier Road has experienced minor flooding but this appears to be an isolated incident, caused by an overflowing manhole and water from the neighbour’s property.

“I have requested her to take photos and forward them to me with her concerns and I will forward these to the roads and stormwater HOD for inspection, analysis and the necessary action.”
