National Cupcake Day was celebrated across all malls in South Africa.
Gerald Grose Estates, in collaboration with Paul Vieira, owner and creator of Cake Extreme and Pizza Delforno, managed to raised R60 000 for Cupcakes of Hope.
A total of 6 550 cupcakes were sold, including pre-orders and cupcakes sold on the day.
Cupcakes were sold at R10 each or R50 for six.
Elaine Coutts, from Gerald Grose Estates, said they managed to reach their target all thanks to the public.
“Everything went successful as we didn’t face any challenges. We are planning to raise money for Cupcakes of Hope again next year,” she said.
Belinda Kruger, from Pizza Delforno, said: “We are happy to be part of this initiative again this year, as we have been running the initiative for the past three years alone.
“We partnered with Gerald Grose Estates this year because we have one mission and that is to make a difference to children who are affected by cancer.”
Paul Vieira, from Cake Extreme, said he was proud of himself and the Gerald Grose Estates team for making the initiative a great success through the support of the public.
Greg Grose, Gerald Grose Estates founder, said: “We thank everyone who bought the cupcakes and also my team and our family members who assisted us in pulling this off.”
Various shops at the Sunward Park Lifestyle Centre donated some of their items from their shops. These were combined into three hampers, which will be given to raffle winners.
