Police arrest Reiger Park double murder suspect

The Reiger Park police have on the afternoon of October 3 found the 37-year-old Reiger Park man suspected of brutally killing a woman and her father in the township.

The suspect allegedly shot and killed his former girlfriend and her father in the township on the morning of September 29.

“Our team of detectives were working around the clock to track down the man suspected of the murder of the 34-year-old Carmen Miller and her 58-year-old father Angus Carson.

“The suspect was arrested at a hotel in Boksburg North. The team was acting on information received from informants regarding the murder suspect’s whereabouts,” said the Reiger Park SAPS spokesperson Sgt Mashudu Phathela.

The wanted man, who is known to the community, allegedly went to Miller’s house where she lived with her 13-year-old son before the incident unfolded.

He will be charged with double murder and is expected to appear in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court soon.

The arrest is a huge relief to the family members who reportedly said they are living in fear as the suspect they considered very dangerous was still at large.

According to Miller’s sister, the boyfriend had a history of domestic violence and was abusive towards her sister during the days leading to the fatal attack on Friday.

She added that her sister had even sought a restraining order against the boyfriend in an attempt to keep him away from her.

A group of neighbours said the shooting has sent shockwaves through the Reiger Park community.
