St James Methodist Church’s outreach donate groceries to Villa Liza families

Ten disadvantaged families from Villa Liza received groceries and clothes from the St James Methodist Church’s Manyano Women on September 2.

As part of their programme to help the community, the women, clothed in the red and white Methodist Church uniform, encouraged and gave hope to the families.

“When we visited Villa Liza Methodist Church, I saw this one old lady, Gogo Mona, from the church and felt so bad that they were always helping other people outside the church,” said Iris Nkutha.

Mona really touched Nkutha’s heart and she thought why not do something to assist the needy families.

She decided she would like to do the same and the project was initiated.

The families, who received the groceries, thanked the women for their assistance.

One community member said the situation in the area is so bad that parents only think of their children and not themselves.

“Whatever food you get, you make sure the kids eat and the adults just have a glass of water and sugar, and then go to bed,” he said.

Eleanor Maxola and Maggie Tshele also extended a word of thanks to the Methodist Manyano Women.
