Security guard covers camera with cloth, arrested for attempted theft

Two security guards were arrested on a charge of attempted theft, on August 26, at about 7.15pm.

The complainant received a call from his security manager, that he saw an unknown Hyundai bakkie entering his workplace. Upon arrival at the premises in Paul Smit Street, Anderbolt, the security guards showed him the vehicle.

“The driver’s door was open and there were steel drums at the back of the bakkie,” said Boksburg North SAPS communications officer Capt Juanita Coetzer.

“The complainant looked on the video footage and saw one of the security guards covering the camera with a cloth.

“However, the other camera did pick up the bakkie entering the premises,” she said.

Boksburg North SAPS were called and after further investigation, the two security guards were arrested and detained.
