Model (15) determined to make it big in the fashion world

Mikayla Dovale aspires to be a prominent fashion designer with the aim of opening her own fashion business one day.

Mikayla has recently been selected as one of the finalists in the Lady Gracious South Africa pageant.

The finale is set to take place on September 2 at Elohim’s Place, Pretoria.

The teen finalist is a Grade Nine learner at Boksburg High School.

Mikayla has described herself as a caring young woman and an extrovert who enjoys meeting new people.

“There are times when I like to be alone, just think and have some me time. I have a passion for music and art. I can express myself through my drawings and writing lyrics. To me that is more than just words on a piece of paper,” she said.

The Sunward Park resident said she entered the pageant so it can help her grow as a person and be more comfortable and confident in her own skin.

This 15-year-old is a determined young woman, She is a Grade Nine learner at Boksburg High School.

The aim of the competition is to give guidance to teens and it helps them discover their purpose in life.

The teen highlighted that she’s new to the modeling industry because it’s her first time to enter any modeling competition.

“So far the experience has been good as I have learned new things and have developed lots of new skills and abilities. Since I entered the pageant I have gained self-esteem because I can now face anything without doubting myself.

“I have met some really amazing people along the way and have become more confident. With the help of the people in the competition with me, I feel like I’ve changed in a good way.”

As part of her pageant duties, Mikayla has to plan her own events to raise money for charity.

To raise the funds, the teen is planning to host a fashion show and a grace race.

The teen shared that her family and friends have been supportive since she took part in the pageant.

“I have awesome friends who have supported me and encouraged me all the way. My family is also amazing and I consider myself lucky to have a family like mine. They support me when I need support,” she said.
