Spate of robberies and theft plagues Boksburg

Recent crimes reported to the Boksburg police.

Robbed

* Criminals held security guards at gunpoint at the Boksburg City Stadium and stole goods worth about R20 000 on the night of August 24. The gun-wielding thieves reportedly accosted the guards and tied one of them up with shoelaces. They then locked the other one inside a container before stealing six truck batteries, tools, tractor loader backhoe wheels and one of the officers’ cellphone.

* Criminals robbed a man of his R20 000 at a garage in Commissioner Street, Boksburg CBD, on August 26. The victim told the police that he had just alighted from his bakkie when he was approached by three men, with one of them aiming a gun at him. They grabbed his sling bag containing the cash and fled on foot.

Burgled

* Thieves forced their way into a residential house in Constantia Road, Freeway Park and stole a TV, computer and the house keys, sometime in the night between August 24 and 25.

* Thieves forced their way into a business in Green Reef Village, Comet and stole tools worth about R27 000, sometime in the night between August 26 and 27.

Car theft

A truck worth about R110 000 was stolen from Wit Deep Road, Jerusalem informal settlement, sometime in the night between August 24 and 25. The truck driver told the police that he parked the truck at about 6pm on August 24 but when he woke up at about 8am the following day, the truck was nowhere to be found. No arrests have been made in connection with these reported crimes, but an investigation continues.
