The SAPS also shut down seven illegal shebeens and arrested the owners.
Led by Const Nati Mokwana, the team conducted raids on the shebeens in Reiger Park, Ramaphosa and Delmore informal settlement, on August 25 and 26.
Reiger Park SAPS spokesperson, Sgt Mashudu Phathela, said such shebeens are among the biggest contributors to violent crimes, including assaults, rape and stabbing incidents.
The shebeen owners were later released after paying a R600 fine each.
Phathela pointed out that the team would continue to enforce the law by conducting regular surprise raids on illegal shebbens, drug dens and other crime hotspots.
“We remind illegal shebbens operators that their illegal trade of alcohol is taken seriously and is treated as a crime that should be punished accordingly,” concluded Phathela.
