Miss Teen Gauteng 2016 aims to once again conquer the runway

Casey de Witt, Miss Teen Gauteng 2016, is gearing up for the Miss Africa pageant and she is not allowing any negativity to take off her focus on winning the title.

Last year, the Advertiser ran a story about the Witfield beauty after she won Miss Teen Gauteng 2016.

Now, taking her modelling career to the next level, Casey is a finalist in the Miss Africa 2017 pageant.

The aim of the pageant is to restore dignity to local communities and the African continent.

“My experience so far in the Miss Africa pageant has been amazing. I have not only learnt so much but I have grown so much more as an individual.

“I have met new people who have the same ambitious, goals and drive as I do,” she said.

The 18-year-old has shared some of the life lessons she learnt while she was Miss Teen Gauteng 2016.

“While being Miss Teen Gauteng 2016 I have learnt that helping others does make a difference, even if it is the smallest things you do for them.

“I have also learnt to be humble and to stay true to who I am. Having the opportunity to visit children’s homes in my year of reign, I have learnt to appreciate what I have in life and never to take anything for granted,” she said.

The determined young woman is studying towards her Bachelor of Arts in corporate communication at Varsity College, in Sandton.

She is also planning to open up her own franchise of Younique Model Academy. It will be located in Dowerglen, Edenvale and enable young girls and boys to grow in self-confidence.

“The one thing that keeps me going in life is my loving and supportive family who give me the drive to keep succeeding.

“The Latin motto Forti Nihil Diffilcilius (nothing is too difficult for the brave) gives me strength each day when I’m weak,” she said.

Casey aspires to be Miss South Africa one day and to be a successful owner of her very own modelling school.

“My message to young people is that they shouldn’t be scared to join the modelling industry because modelling helps improve self-confidence, etiquette and one’s ability to speak in public,” she said.

  • The Miss Africa finale is set to take place in the North West Province from October 29 to November 5.

To vote for Casey, SMS “MISS02” to 47018 and to donate SMS ‘’MISS02” to 40113 (cost R20).
