Boksburg learners can apply now for a Master Maths bursary

Learners in Boksburg high schools, from grades 10 to 12, can apply for a bursary from Master Maths.

Neil van der Merwe, from Master Maths in Boksburg, explained that one learner from each local high school will be selected to be a part of the bursary scheme, offered by the Boksburg Master Maths franchises.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for those wanting to further their maths learning.

“We are also inviting Grade Nine learners to apply before the end of January 2018 to stand a chance of being selected for the scheme next year.”

Learners who are interested must approach their teacher or principal to get the process underway.

“Schools all have the application forms. It is simply a case of assisting the learners who are interested in applying,” Van der Merwe said.

The application criteria for learners are:

Applicants and their parents will be interviewed by Master Maths as part of the selection process.

Master Maths will enrol successful applicants at no cost and provide them with all the necessary notes and lessons.

“It is ideal for Grade 10 learners to be enrolled as the bursary scheme will carry them through to Grade 12, free of charge, thereby ensuring they get maximum benefit out of this opportunity,” van der Merwe said.

The deadline for Grade 10, 11 and 12 learners to apply is September 15 and for Grade Nine pupils January 31, 2018.

“We encourage schools to motivate learners to apply and to assist them with the necessary paperwork and we will take it from there,” said van der Merwe.

He added the selection process takes between two to three weeks per school.
