Strelitzia fête a flipping huge success
A total of R29 000 was raised during the Strelitzia Service Centre’s annual fête, on August 5.
It was a fun-filled day for families who came out to support the event as they browsed the stalls while listening to live entertainment in the Strelitzia hall.
This year, 19 exhibitors showcased their work, which included jewellery, clothing and bookstands.
Strelitzia’s famous pancakes were a hit and other foods on sale also tempted the taste buds.
Centre manager Rika Crous said: “This year we had more exhibitors. The day was a huge success and we thank everyone who donated and to those who came out to support us. Donations from the public and our members always make our task so much easier.”
All proceeds from the fête go to the centre.
Strelitzia is the only service centre of its kind for the elderly in Ekurhuleni. The centre runs clinic services, a second-hand shop, a library, various activities (line dancing, lawn bowls, gym trim, needlework) and a Meals on Wheels scheme. It also provides daily meals to members and arranges a host of special functions for the aged throughout the year.
Membership is only R75 per year.
If you would like to support the centre or become a member, contact Rika on 011 917 5156/7.
