Be ready to verify and register for low-cost housing

The process to verify low-cost housing application status and to register new applicants will resume in the Ekurhuleni metro’s Southern Region Customer Care Centres as of August 15.

The registration process began early this year in March and was halted in order to work out administration efficiency.

This process will ensure that new and old application for low-cost housing are verified and those who are not in the system but qualify will be registered on the national database of the housing needs register.

Officials will be working weekdays and weekends to ensure that a large number of people are attended to.

During registration, applicants are requested to bring along documents such as bar coded identity book or smart card, birth certificates of dependents, marriage certificates if married, divorce decree and pay slips.

Applicants should be over the age of 18.

Themba Gadeba, metro spokesperson, said: “At the beginning of October 2017, the registration process will be open to Ekurhuleni residents based in the Northern Region and culminate with the Eastern Region. Residents are urged to visit the nearest Customer Care Centres for more information.”
