The metro has been running the career expo since 2013.
The three-day event presented various career opportunities and sound career counselling to young people who are still confused about their career paths.
The aim of the expo was to expose graduates, school-leavers and young entrepreneurs to various employment opportunities available at companies in and around Ekurhuleni.
One of the attendees, Tshepo Ndlovu, from Katlehong, said: “The expo has opened my mind to new careers. One thing I have realised since I started attending is that information cannot come to you when you are just sitting at home.”
Another attendee, Simphiwe Mthimunye, who is doing Grade 11 at Kenneth Masekela Secondary School said: “I came to the career expo because I wanted to find out more about bursaries and internships. I don’t want to sit at home after I finish school, and that is why I made an effort to be here so that I can make decisions about my future.”
The youth were given the opportunity to register their CVs on Ekurhuleni’s Unemployed Youth database.
