Ekurhuleni Central Cluster crime blitz busts 178 suspects

The Ekurhuleni Central SAPS Cluster have on separate incidents over the weekend managed to find and bring 178 people to book for their alleged criminal behaviours.

The suspects were arrested in different policing precinct including Boksburg North, Reiger Park, Dawn Park, Brakpan, Boksburg, Benoni, Crystal Park, Daveyton, Etwatwa, Putfontein and Actonville.

This was achieved when the team of police officers from the cluster embarked on a massive weekend-long crime blitz, which saw the officers conducting crime operations in the different policing precinct which fall under Ekurhuleni Central SAPS Cluster.

This is according to a statement issued by Sgt Mashudu Phathela on behalf of the Cluster commander, Brig Poobalan Subbiah’s office.

Foot patrols, stop and searches, tracing of wanted suspects as well as intensive investigation by members of the detectives services formed part of the weekend fight against criminals.

The suspects were arrested and charged with various criminal offences, including robbery, possession of hijacked truck, unlicensed firearm, drugs and driving while under the influence of alcohol.

Arrestees will appear in their respective magistrate courts.
