Local SAPS members shine at medal parade

More than a 100 police officers were honoured for their service at the annual Ekurhuleni Central Cluster Medal Parade, held at the Prince George Park Stadium, on June 7.

About 40 SAPS members from Boksburg’s respective police stations received medals.

According to the Boksburg North SAPS communications officer, Capt Juanita Coetzer, this is the most important event in a police member’s career – to receive a medal for years of service.

The SAPS band led the platoon on the parade ground and welcomed the attending generals with a general salute.

Deputy provincial commissioner for Gauteng Maj-Gen Max Masha, accompanied by the cluster commander, Maj-Gen Poobalan Subbiah, was escorted through the parade to inspect the members.

Boksburg North SAPS communications officer Capt Juanita Coetzer received a 30-year faithful service medal, as well as a 20-year loyal service medal.
