Reiger Park’s very own star, Keanan Francis, is one of the top 45 hopeful finalists for Mr South Africa.

Francis is a determined 25-year-old who has described himself as a loyal human being who is passionate about people.

“I always go all out to assist people with whatever I can, as I put their needs before mine,” he said.

The adventurous model said his hobbies are swimming, modelling and doing charity work.

Francis has obtained provincial colours for swimming, has competed in dancing overseas and has been featured on many shows with various entertainment entities.

Francis matriculated from PW Botha College in the Western Cape in 2009 and proceeded to the University of Johannesburg, where he studied education but did not complete his studies.

He is now a senior operations administrator at Bidvest Car Rental, taking care of the financial administration of the 12 branches within the Gauteng region.

Francis says he was persuaded by his family, among others, to enter the Mr South Africa competition.

“I had my doubts but I took a leap of faith and entered the pageant. The journey so far has been pleasant. I have met a lot of people and it has allowed me to open myself up to new ventures and other avenues of my life,” he said.

As part of the pageant’s charity projects, finalists will be presented with different tasks on a monthly basis. They will have to, for example, raise funds for Cansa and secure public votes.

Francis has won several modelling competitions. He was crowned Mr Johannesburg 2015/16 and Mr Prime SA 2015.

He said if he wins Mr South Africa he will use a portion of the money to fund a few charity projects that he has in mind, to uplift his community and surrounding areas.

Over the years I’ve had tremendous support from my family and friends. My parents and my siblings have always been there every step of the way, and my modelling coach Sheradean Peter has also been a great inspiration. My coach has always pushed to do better and has never doubted me for one second, and I thank her for that

Francis said what keeps him going in life is his will to do good.

“I always want to see people succeed in all they do and this pushes me to stay positive,” he said.

Francis dreams of opening an arts academy that will involve dancing, drama, singing and modelling.

According to Francis, Mr South Africa should be a great leader, a man of honour and a philanthropist at heart.

“Mr South Africa should stand strong in his beliefs and shouldn’t be afraid to get his hands dirty. Mr South Africa should always set a high level of respect for himself and the world at large. He should behave like a gentleman at all times and be humble in any situation,” Francis said.

Francis said he would like to lead by example.

“I will carry the Mr South Africa title with pride and will portray gentleman-like behaviour at all times. Community and charity work are close to my heart. I would like to tackle social issues within different communities.”
