Be part of the ward 32 bi-election process

A council resolution taken on April 26 states that the process to establish ward committees must be finalised in earnest.

Affected wards that are due for bi-elections in all sectors are wards 32, 60 and 96.

The nomination process has been opened and will close on June 2. Elections will follow later in June.

Members of the public are urged to get nomination forms from community participation and education officers at their nearest customer care centre and to submit them on or before June 2.

The ward committee is a statutory structure recognised by the municipal council and is able to make recommendations to council through its ward councillor based on the needs of its ward.

Such structures ensure that public involvement is not merely a ‘tick the box’ exercise and that the objectives of council reflect the principles of serving the needs of the community.

The ward committee election date for ward 32 (Parkrand) is scheduled for June 10 at the Boksburg Hall. The councillor is Marius De Vos and the presiding officer is Derick Jacobs. Contact 011 999 1653 for more details.
