The programme is part of the metro’s drive to ensure that service delivery issues are rapidly responded to.
He said despite the metro visiting Boksburg as part of the Siyaqhuba programme, not much is really being done.

He pointed out that in ward 32 some of the challenges identified where open mine shafts, a need for an informal sports field, high mast lights needed, and storm water trenches flooding.
“The overgrown grass and trees have still not been attended to, four days since the visit,” said de Vos.
“An open electrical box on the pathway in the informal settlement attracted the attention of MMC Robert Mashego, who investigated and found that an illegal supply cable is actually connected to the box and supplying electricity to some of the shacks, including the proper houses in the informal settlement.
“A senior manager was called in to explain, who promised to have the illegal connection disconnected on Friday, May 12, or as soon as possible.
“I went back to the same electrical box on May 17 and to my dismay, the illegal connection had not been disconnected. This type of response to service delivery leaves a bad taste in the mouth.
“An open mine shaft very close to the dwellings is another point in case. It is true Mashego did not mince his words when he called on senior officials to coordinate the immediate closure of the mine shaft.
“As far as I know the promises have been made for cooperation with all involved departments to facilitate this task. Yet a week later it remains to be seen as nothing has been done.
“For me, the visit was all talk and no action, as potholes are still a huge problem. Driving on some of our roads has become a dangerous exercise due to the deteriorating conditions, which have been reported numerous times to no avail,” de Vos said.
