Athletes take note: Raising funds for Bibles one kilometer at a time

The Bible Society of SA invites interested  athletes  to participate in the “Run for Bibles” Project during the 92nd Comrades Marathon.

This year the marathon will take place between Durban and Pietermaritzburg on June 4.

If the comrades is not in your vision athletes can contribute to the work of the Bible Society by running the Two Oceans, Loskopdam, Suikerbosrand and Nedbank City to  City marathons or any other marathon.

Sponsorship forms are only made available to athletes once registration with The Bible Society has taken place.

According to Marina Stebbing from the Bible Society, friends, family, assembly members or colleague may then sponsor athletes  per kilometer.

“In doing so, funds are raised to finance the various projects which is aimed to make Bibles available to the poorest of the poor, grade seven learners of previously disadvantaged  schools, prisoners and our neighbouring countries,” said Stebbing.

“Funds will also contribute towards the continuation with Bible translation within SA and the rest of the continent of Africa, the availability of an English Bible for the deaf and also  Bible programmes to address needs with the aim to increase interaction with the Word.

“We are also looking at Bible based literacy among pre-shool children and making the Audibible available in Siswati.”
