Unlicensed 9mm pistol with six live rounds seized in Freeway Park, recovered

The Boksburg SAPS over the Easter weekend arrested a man found in possession of an unlicensed 9mm pistol with six live rounds in Freeway Park, on April 14.

According to Boksburg SAPS spokesperson Cebisa Maseko, police officers were patrolling the area when they spotted a suspicious white Volkswagen Polo parked on Witpeer Street, with the front passenger door wide open.

“Sgt Steven Mkhensani and his colleagues approached the driver, who was alone in the car, and asked to search him.

“They then found the illegal firearm and the man was immediately placed under arrest.”

He is expected to appear in court soon.

* Meanwhile on April 16, a gang of robbers pretending to be clients robbed Marula Guest House in Parkdene.

The thugs held a staff member at gunpoint before they stole an undisclosed amount of cash.

They also took the employee’s cellphone before fleeing the scene.

No arrests have been made so far, but investigation continues. -@FanieFLK

* A man believed to be responsible for the murder of an Angelo resident was arrested over this festive period.

Ephraim Tema’s body was found lying on the ground with two stab wounds, in the informal settlement, on April 3, 2015.

The arrested man has been charged with murder and will appear in court soon.
