Perjurers will be caught out

The SAPS has issued a stern warning to those thinking of opening a false case for whatever reason.

“You will be caught out and face the consequences thereof,” said Boksburg North SAPS’ Capt Juanita Coetzer.

In one instance, a complainant alleged that his car had been stolen. He said he was driving his vehicle and dropped off a friend at her house when the incident occurred.

“While driving off, the complainant heard a noise coming from his vehicle’s wheel and stopped and jumped out to see what the problem was,” said Coetzer.

“While the vehicle was still idling, a male jumped in and drove off.”

The complainant opened a case of theft of motor vehicle.

The investigating officer, Det-WO Vusi Tlemo, contacted the complainant, but could not get hold of him.

He then contacted the mother of the complainant and she promised to bring the complainant to the Boksburg North Police Station.

“The complainant could not point out the scene of crime, nor could he tell the detective where he dropped off his friend,” said Coetzer.

Det-WO Tlemo found out that the complainant was lying and had opened a false case.
