Watch video: K90 Centre colours, shaves hair for a good cause

The K90 Centre hosted a successful and colourful Cansa Shavathon, with a total of R4 800 being raised towards this great initiative.

Young and old gathered at the centre on February 25 to either shave or spray their hair to show solidarity with cancer survivors and those affected by it.

This year the National Cansa Shavathon is enjoying its 14th year of great achievements and excellence.

Claudine van der Vlies sprays Matthew Philipps’ hair for the good cause.

Magic happens within the eight minutes to shave, five seconds to spray and five seconds to donate.

While donors where coloring their hair they were treated to a live performance from the likes of Andre G, Botter, Darius, Natalie, Dj Lawwe Klonke (JP) and Jannie.

The Christian Motorcycles Association created a buzz with their bike show, which attracted scores of people to the event.

Funds raised go towards providing a unique integrated service to the public and all people affected by cancer.

Cansa’s Yolandi Jacobs, the community mobiliser on the East Rand, said: “The association uses the money from the Shavathon to research, educate and support and to create awareness.

“The scientific findings and knowledge gained from the research are used to realign their health programmes as well as strengthen their watchdog role to the greater benefit of the public.”

K90 Centre management thanks Meat World for donating food and drinks for the volunteers at the Shavathon and the owner of Holeshots Motorcycles for his support at the event.
