Ekurhuleni’s mayor, Mzwandile Masina will today (Monday) lead a sod turning ceremony for the development of the mega housing project.

“The ground breaking event will make way for the building of about 19 000 houses, characterized by well-designed, sustainable, integrated and secured neighborhoods,” said Gadebe.

“The new development will benefit informal settlement dwellers from Joe Slovo, Ulana Park, Hlahane, Driefontein, Crossroads (Roodekop Ext 3), Vosloorus, Kalamazoo and katlehong.”

He said the project is set to turn the tide on the challenge of informal settlements in the metro. Ekurhuleni has 119 000 Informal settlements.
