Thieves continue to target residents’ property and valuable goods.

*Thieves clean out Parkrand home

Sometime between February 17 and 19, thieves ransacked a Parkrand family’s home, making off with R90 000 worth of valuable goods.

A personal computer, two TV sets, motorcycle helmet, an iPhone and a motorcycle were among the stolen goods.

The complainant told the police that she left her house at about 3pm on February 17, before she received a call from neighbours, on February 19, informing her that the house has been burgled.

She later returned to her house to discover that indeed thieves had targeted her property.

Police are now investigating a housebreaking case.

*Beware of scammers at Sunward Park Lifestyle Centre

A woman had her money and other belongings stolen by con artists, after she was tricked into accepting a dodgy deal, at the Checkers at Sunward Park Lifestyle Centre, on February 18.

According to Boksburg SAPS spokesperson, Sgt Cebisa Maseko, the woman told the police that she had just arrived at Checkers, when someone walked up to her and promised to pay for her goods of choice at a discount.

The thief and his accomplice tricked the victim into believing that one of their accomplices worked at Checkers, and she (the staff member) could use her staff discount card to pay for the goods of her choice.

The victim could not resist the offer of getting goods at a discount. She and the thieves went to one of the restaurants at the shopping centre, where they had a brief discussion about the deal.

The scammers then tricked their target into handing over her bag, containing money and personal belongings worth about R3 000, before she could go back to Checkers to take the goods of her choice from the shelves.

They told her that they would be waiting for her at the tills, where the staff member would then use her staff discount card to pay for the goods.

But unbeknown to her, the crooks disappeared while she was still inside the supermarket.
