Boksburg car salesman handed 32 life sentences for rape, child porn

The convicted paedophile from Atlasville has reportedly been sentenced to 32 life sentences and 170 years in prison for 870 charges of rape and possession of child pornography.

The car salesperson was sentenced by Judge Cassim Moosa in the High Court in Johannesburg on Monday morning.

His case was moved from the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court to the South Gauteng High Court due to the large number of rape charges he faced.

Last week he pleaded guilty in the South Gauteng High Court to the more than 800 charges, which include child rape, exploitation, sexual assault and child pornography.

It is reported that his victims included three young girls.

In his guilty plea, the man said he suffered from depression, sexual and suicidal tendencies.

He was caught when US officials found him sharing scores of videos on a website commonly accessed by paedophiles.

He was arrested on September 30, 2015 at his workplace, after police established that he had stored child pornography on his laptop.

National police spokesperson Brig Vishnu Naidoo said at the time that the man allegedly took and posted photos of his girlfriend’s four-year-old daughter, sharing them with users as far as the United States of America.

“After receiving and following up on information from their US colleagues, the specialised team working for the South African Police Service’s Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit, based in Gauteng, arrested the suspect at his place of work in Boksburg,” said Naidoo at the time.

The police specialised investigation team searched the car dealership in Boksburg.

“It was established that the suspect had child pornography stored in the hard drive of his laptop,” said Naidoo.

The police then raided his house and seized three laptops, two external hard drives, two cellphones, memory cards, a DVD, one Play Station console and a mini spy-camera, believed to belong to him.

According to Women and Men Against Child Abuse, the man preyed on single mothers and their children.

The anti-abuse group claimed he tried to distribute these images internationally.
