Reports indicate Gavin Ramsay died after he sustained multiple injuries in an accident in Killarney, Cape Town, on Saturday, February 5.

At the time of the accident, he was competing in the second SA TT motorcycle race at the annual Passion for Speed.
It has been reported that Ramsay’s Suzuki slid and went down under braking into Turn 1 at the start of lap three, apparently slipping on oil.
He was then was flung off his machine, sustaining injuries which proved fatal at the scene.

The Springs Advertiser reports that before tragedy struck, Ramsay had started the year on a high note, finishing fifth in the day’s first race in the international SA TT series for pre-1989 motorcycles.
In January he won the first race in the 2017 series at Zwartkops near Pretoria.
