CBC top students to follow big dreams

CBC Boksburg matriculants have done themselves and their school proud; and their efforts have ensured another year of a 100 per cent pass rate for all 49 IEB candidates.

University studies will be the order of the day for 43 boys, while six will pursue studies at other tertiary institutions.

Trevor Davey will be studying towards a BSc Chemical Engineering at Potchefstroom University.

Trevor attained four distinctions in English, mathematics, life sciences and life orientation.

James Harrison will be following B.Com Accounting at Pretoria University and attained four distinctions in accounting, geography, mathematics and life orientation.

The two top performers were Tevo’n Campbell and Jason Wilkins.

Tevo’n attained six distinctions in Afrikaans, mathematics, life sciences, physical science, accounting and life orientation, while Jason secured six distinctions in English, mathematics, physical science, accounting, history and life orientation.

After a rigorous selection process, Tevo’n will be taking up a bursary at the Moravian College in Pennsylvania, United States, where he’ll be studying towards the degree B.Sc. Chemistry, majoring in Bio-Chemistry.

In Grade 10, Tevo’n was selected to represent South Africa and Eskom at the Genius Olympiad held at the State University of New York (SUNY) in Oswego, New York – and that experience cemented his ambition to further his studies in the United States.

He has consistently performed at a high level in every year at CBC, receiving many awards for academic excellence.

On the sporting front, Tevo’n played first team hockey and was captain of the first swimming team.

He was also Deputy Head of Founders House, as well as a Tutor Leader.
Tevo’n was the Dux Scholar in matric.

Jason Wilkins will be attending Pretoria University, where he’ll study towards the degree B.Com Accounting and Honours.

His ultimate career goal is to become a Chartered Accountant and complete articles with one of the major accounting firms, to which he has already applied.

He has attained many awards for academic achievement and was a Tutor Leader for Founders House.

Jason also proved to be a valuable sportsman, playing hockey and cricket – and being awarded a Cricket Tie for taking five wickets in a game.
