New Year’s babies brings light into New Year
A few women have celebrated the New Year with the birth of a new life.
At exactly 30 minutes into the New Year (12:30am), Siphesihle Cebekulu gave birth to a little boy named Thapelo Siphosethu Cebekulu, at the Sunward Park Hospital.
He weighed 4.12kg and was only 54cm tall.
Thapelo was the only baby born on New Year’s Day (January 1, 2017) at the above mentioned hospital.
At the Tambo Memorial Hospital, two baby boys were welcomed into the world on the first day of the new year.
Prudence Dube delivered her second child – a boy – at 4.50am.
He weighed 3.09kg.
Shortly after her, Jessica Christiaans gave birth to her fifth child at 5.15am.
She told the Advertiser that, even though it’s her fifth born, it’s her first boy.
He weighed 2.86kg.
(Please note: These were the only normal deliveries on the day at Tambo Memorial Hospital. There were also a number of caesarean births.)
