Mayor to lead committee in Imbizo programme

Ekurhuleni Mayor Clr Mzwandile Masina and the entire mayoral committee will this week criss-cross Ekurhuleni as part of the Imbizo programme.

Masina, who has already called on the staff of the metro to spend less time in the office and more time on the ground attending to service delivery issues, said: “There can never be enough consultation with the community in local government because this is the coal face of governance.

“Therefore, our decision to continuously engage our people remains the primary focus of this administration.”

“If you drive a ‘Pro Poor’ programme, the best thing you can do is to be in touch with the masses you are targeting for a better life,” said Ekurhuleni’s first citizen.

Apart from the two-day Imbizo programme to take place on October 18 and 19, the municipality has introduced Siyaqhuba Friday, in which the mayor and his entire mayoral committee and team of technical people visit communities to inspect the living conditions and discrepancies in the supply of service delivery.

“Siyaqhuba Friday about service delivery. It is an attempt to accelerate service delivery while Imbizo affords us an opportunity to give feedback to the community about the road traversed thus far while getting much-needed input from communities about their expectations and experiences in the work we do,” Masina explained.
