Local cops honoured at prestige awards evening

A special Prestige Award Ceremony was held for the top police members of Ekurhuleni Central Cluster, at the Birchwood Hotel, on September 9.

 

The event was hosted by Ekurhuleni Cluster Commander Maj-Gen Bruce Subbiah, to honour and reward the officials for their outstanding performance, hard work and dedication throughout the year 2015/16.

Guests were welcomed by Ekurhuleni Deputy Cluster Commander Brig Thabo Mphuthi.

Ekurhuleni Central Cluster consists of 11 police stations, including Boksburg, Boksburg North, Brakpan, Dalpark, Reiger Park, Benoni, Crystal Park, Actonville, Putfontein, Daveyton and Etwatwa.

The Boksburg North SAPS soccer team that was honoured as Sport Group of the Year, at the Ekurhuleni Central Cluster Prestige Awards, held at the Birchwood Hotel, on September 9.

The following police stations and officers from Boksburg received accolades:

* Boksburg SAPS Support Services was named Administration Group of the Year.

* Sandra Grobler, from Boksburg SAPS, received a trophy and certificate for second runner-up Administration Employee of the Year: Levels One to Seven.

Const Floyd Mbalati, from the Reiger Park SAPS, walked away as first runner-up in the Vispol Employee of the Year: Level Three to Seven category. Here, Cluster Commander Maj-Gen Bruce Subbiah congratulates him.

* Reiger Park SAPS was crowned second runner-up Vispol Group of the Year.

* Const Floyd Mbalati, from Reiger Park SAPS, walked away as first runner-up in the Vispol Employee of the Year: Levels Three to Seven.

* Const John Boya, from Boksburg North SAPS, received an award for first runner-up in the category Sport Star of the Year. Boya was also the captain of the Boksburg North SAPS soccer team that was named Sport Group of the Year.

CPF chairperson Reza Patel delivered a motivational address and referred to the police officials as “heroes” and “knights in shining armour”
.

Boksburg CPF Parkdene was named Best CPF of the Year.

Police members’ performances were assessed in 17 categories. Other categories included Detective Group and Employee of the Year, Crime Intelligence Employee of the Year, Reservist of the Year, Woman and Man of the Year, and Best Performing Disabled Person of the Year.

James and André provided live music at the ceremony.

CPF chairperson Reza Patel delivered a motivational address and referred to the police officials as “heroes” and “knights in shining armour”.

“We love our police out there,” he said.
