Ward councillor Reid faces numerous challenges

For the second time around, Clr Bruce Reid has been elected to be the Ward 43 councillor which covers Sunward Park, Freeway Park, Klipoortjie, Groeneweide, Windmill Park and Dawn Park.

Reid, who hails from KwaZulu-Natal, has described his childhood days as pleasant.

He joined the DA in 2009 and since then he has never looked back.

In 2011 he was elected into council and has served as the DA Boksburg Constituency Chairperson, member of the Provincial Executive Committee and regional finance chairperson.

In Council he has served in finance oversight, health and social development oversight and rules committee.

Reid studied at the University of South Africa where he did his BCom in Finance, which degree is still in progress.

Poor roads in Sunward Park, a lack of rubbish bins in the ward and an ailing sewerage system were some of the challenges Reid faced while during his previous term.

“In places like Dawn Park I faced the challenge with some residents who didn’t want to pay their accounts. So I would like to encourage the people to pay their accounts this time and on time and avoid any hassles,” said Reid.

Reid said he is determined to resolve the problems around storm water drains in Dawn Park, while he aims to provide better healthcare access in Windmill Park, road markings and road signs in Boksburg.

He indicated that there is a dire need for a sports field in Dawn Park to keep the young people active and entertained.

“I will again be using my financial knowledge to ensure a smooth term of office.”

Reid said the support he received from his friends and family has been phenomenal.

“I would like to thank everyone who supported me in the season of the elections, especially residents of Ward 43.”
