Dimpled balls fund-raiser helps local SPCA

The Dimpled Balls Golf School held a fund-raising golf day at State Mines Country Club, Brakpan, on August 14, in aid of the Boksburg SPCA and Gudwulfs ROC.

A hole at which to raise funds was generously donated to the Boksburg SPCA, and the society was also able to hold an auction at the prize-giving.

It was a lovely day and the society raised some much needed funds for the animals in its care.

The Dimpled Balls Golf School was officially started in January 2014.

Approximately nine guys played golf one Sunday afternoon and thought it would be a great idea to do it every month, and that is how the school came about.

“We have played golf on the first Sunday of every month since then,” said event organiser Arthur Sanderson.

The school has about 60 members and averages about 10 four-balls each time they play. While having so many people together at one time and networking through all the members, the members thought that it would be a great idea to do a charity event once a year.

“When one of the members fiancé’s, who is an absolute animal lover, approached us to help Gudwulfs ROC, we could not resist once we had heard what it was all about and the great work these wonderful humans do to help our animal friends,” said Sanderson.

“We would like to continue helping them in other avenues, as I think the work they do is excellent.”
