Science under the spotlight in Reiger Park
National Science Week kicked off at Reiger Park's Goede Hoop Primary School on August 6.
It aims to expose learners, educators and the general public to various educational upliftment, social development, learnerships, work integrated learning and project management programmes.
This is an initiative of Community Inspired, a small, community-based and community-focused organisation, that encourages educational initiatives and promotes post school education.
The organisation’s director, Ricardo Langson, said it was established a year ago.
“This is to ensure we expose our learners, educators and public to science, engineering and technology exhibitions and activities,” he explained.
The event consisted of:
*Presentations to the students and public by leaders in the field of science and technology.
*Participation of the Sector Education and Training Authority.
*Participation of stakeholders to enhance students’ career paths going forward.
*Participation of the critical situation the country is in due to lack of science, technology, pure mathematics and innovation in the youth.
*Participation in a play to educate the students on body organs.
*Participation in the upskilling and importance of mathematics and science.
