60th wedding anniversary sealed with a passionate kiss

The fire and passion, even after 60 years of marriage, still inspire the Williams couple, in Atlasville, to share a passionate kiss.

Derek (84) and Cynthia (86) Williams are, indeed, living proof that love really exists.

Married on August 4, 1956, in England, the spark of love is evidently still burning in the hearts of this Mercury Street couple.

In this age, where most marriages do not last long, newly-wed couples can definitely take their cue from these partners, on what has made them fall and then remain head-over-heels in love with each other for 60 long years.

They were married in Cheltenham, England, before moving to South Africa in 1968.

They have been living in Boksburg ever since, though they had a short stint in Brakpan.

The couple is blessed with two daughters, Jacky Krombeen and Kathy Mader, who, between them, gave their parents five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

What kept them glued to each other for all these years?

Cynthia mentioned trust, friendship, honesty, sharing and lots of caring for one another as the recipe for their togetherness.

Derek worked at Atlas Aircraft for 26 years, while Cynthia was employed at Haggie Rand.

Cynthia says she has always loved her man but the last 12 years have seen the flames of love rising even higher.

They celebrated their anniversary at their home, with family.

Cynthia advised the young married couples who would like to live happily ever after to develop trust between themselves, be patient with one another and, most importantly, love and care for one another.
