Three Nigerians arrested for selling drugs at Boksburg flea market

The EMPD arrested three men over the weekend at the Boksburg flea market for trading in drugs.

The first arrest followed after the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit commenced on on Saturday, July 30 while observing a suspect, who reportedly was selling drugs at the flea market

At around noon the man was approached and arrested when drugs were found hidden in his underwear.EMPD spokesperson Lieut-Col Wilfred Kgasago said thirty-two ziplocks of crystal methamphetamine and Cat valued at R12 500 were retrieved from the suspect’s underwear.

“Hard cash amounting to R1530 suspected to be proceeds from drug-dealing was also confiscated from the suspect.”

The 32-year-old Nigerian national was detained at Boksburg North police station after charges of possession and dealing in illicit substances were registered.

Hardly half an hour after arresting the drug dealer, the hawk-eyed EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit members nabbed further two men found with the drug Cat valued at R5 000 at the same place.

Kgasago said the two men were closely monitored and upon realising that they were being observed, the duo tried to run but were cornered and arrested.

“On their persons, the metro police found the drug as well as cash totaling R3 050 on the suspects.

“The two Nigerian nationals aged 28 and 30 were charged with possession and dealing in illicit substances at Boksburg North police station where they were also detained,” said Kgasago.

All the suspects are expected to appear in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
