Natacha Veldman, a determined woman from Boksburg, is a finalist in the pageant.
According to Veldman she saw an audition advert on the current Mrs Gauteng, Adele de Beer’s Facebook page, and upon hearing that it is for charity she decided to enter as she is passionate in making a difference in people’s lives.
Veldman who works as an administrative clerk at Leeuwpoort Primary School said she has entered many pageants previously when she was still young.
She has, however, never entered a philanthropic pageant which makes it more exciting for her.
“My purpose in entering the pageant is to help people wherever I can. I am passionate about children as they are the future of South Africa,” Veldman said.
Veldman’s projects or activities that she needs to do during her finalist period is to hand in 10 gifts of any value to the foundation. This will be in a form of vouchers, stationery, hair accessories, make-up and jewellery.
She also needs to hand in 12 souvenir gifts for the finalists’ goodie bags and non-perishable food or stationery items that will go to the three vulnerable groups.
She also needs raise a minimum of R5 000 in cash that will go to Rolemodels Foundation.
Furthermore, Veldman is required to scout for charity debit orders and host 10 guests or more at the Women of Strength High Tea event.
The event will be in celebration of women who have overcome adversity.
Each finalist must decorate her table in the Great Gatsby movie theme and arrange and host the Tinker Bell, Peter Pan and Fairy pageant fundraiser at Carnival City.
“My motto in life is no matter what you go through in life you can live your dream if you work hard,” Veldman said.
The gala evening will take place at Velmore Hotel Pretoria, on August 27. Prizes for the top three will include a sash, crown and a certificate.
