BACS reveals mayoral hopeful

Newly formed Building A Cohesive Community In South Africa (BACS) political party unveiled its mayoral candidate for the Ekurhuleni Metro at a press conference held in Sandton on June 14

Deon Joubert, who is a resident of Brakpan, is the candidate.

As a businessman he established a gas company that he ran for 18 years in Benoni.

His interests in sport made him occupy various positions in different sporting codes, becoming the President of Benoni Angling Association for the past 12 and member of the Outdoorsman Group for the last 10 years.

“In 2011, Deon joined the DA and he later became the chairperson of Brakpan Constituency, a position he held for many years until he decided to terminate his membership with the party,” said BACS media officer Chris Kope.

“With his vast experience in politics and as a businessman, the party considered his appointment.

“We hope his involvement in politics will help this party grow further and as a businessman he will be able to identify areas of concern within his community and the rest of Ekurhuleni.

“His candidacy will ensure that the challenges of job creation, crime, service delivery to communities and growing the economy in the city are brought to the fore, while ensuring gender equality and greater opportunities for our youth.

“He will be tasked with a commitment to building a truly non-racial society, where all participate in the growth of South Africa, where all South African’s put their country first.”
