Masina named ANC Ekurhuleni mayoral candidate

Should the ANC retain Ekurhuleni in the upcoming elections, Trade and Industry Deputy Minister Mzwandile Masina will be the mayor.

He was announced mayoral candidate for the 2016 local elections at the ANC’s National Executive Committee in Tshwane on Saturday evening (June 18).

Masina topped the list of candidates nominated by ANC branches in Ekurhuleni and he will replace the incumbent, Mondli Gungubele.

He is also currently serving as the regional chairperson of the ANC in Ekurhuleni.

Previously, he was the chief executive officer at the Gauteng Film Commission, a statutory agency.

He also worked as deputy director general at the Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation.

Masina has also worked as director of economic empowerment in Ekurhuleni Metro and for the Ntsika Enterprise Promotion Agency as programme manager.

He was also a director of business development and customer care at the DTI before joining Uthingo Management as general manager of empowerment.

Masina studied at the University of the Witwatersrand School of Governance in Public and Development Management as well as at the University of Pretoria, where he graduated with a masters degree specialising in entrepreneurship.
