Also in attendance were SAPS members from various stations, including executive heads.

Training started at 11am with a welcome by Herman Heunis, CPF cluster head.

Training facilitator from SAPS Sgt Louwtjie Bekker took over and used various objects, as well as SAPS crime scene tape, to illustrate effective crime scene containment, including accident scene management.

The floor was then opened for questions.

“At first, a few of the members seemed a bit unsure of the reason for them attending the training, but it was made clear why it is needed to be trained,” said Boksburg North SAPS communication officer, Capt Juanita Coetzer.

“It is clear from the questions that were asked that there is a definite need for additional training at station level to deal with issues pertaining to the area.”

The session ended with an explanation of the code of conduct.

Fingerprints were also taken by W/O Jan Meintjies for all members who had not done their prints yet.
